Stella brings LED lights to the edge

Need an LED light you can bring with you anywhere, or use in different locations in your home?  Check out the Stella Edge, which attaches to any surface between .5″ and 2.5″ thick.

LED Lighting technology suitable for low vision

The Stella brand specializes in lamps designed to suit the needs of low vision users.  For the visually impaired, control over lighting is one of the most important features to help maximize remaining sight.  Stella offers user control in 3 ways:

• Light intensity
• Light color
• Lamp positioning

Let’s look at some frequently asked questions in these areas, and how the Stella Edge addresses them.

Are LED lights dimmable?

Yes. Stella Edge features 5-level dimming within each color mode, from 100% to 10% maximum light output.

Does light color matter for low vision?

Yes. Different shades of light during different tasks, or even different times of day, can greatly impact your ability to see the task at hand.  Stella allows you to choose your color spectrum to create the optimal lighting solution for your needs.  Their unique Tri-Spectrum technology offers cool, warm, or pure white lig

My low vision specialist recommended a flexible desk lamp. Why is flexibility important?

First off, task lighting is extremely important for people with low vision to reduce eye strain.  If you are solely using ambient room lighting, such as a ceiling light, only about 12.5% of that light illuminates the working area on your desk, table, or counter-top.  With the Stella Edge, you can maximize your task lighting by positioning the lamp exactly where you need the light to fall.  The lamp’s flexible arm is made of segmented steel, the ultimate solution for adjustable lighting that maintains a strong hold in virtually any position.

Another unique element of the Edge is that you can control it from anywhere in the room.  Use the wireless remote to make lighting adjustments and power the lamp on and off.  When not in use, the remote magnetically attaches to the base.

Why LED Lights?

Let’s take a look at the bigger picture.  Stella lamps use Phillips Lumiled LEDs, which are energy efficient and environmentally friendly.  On average, the bulbs use 10 watts of power — a fraction of the power of other light sources — produce little to no heat, and last well over 50,000 hours with no bulbs to replace.  Have peace of mind knowing your lamp will always be ready when you need it.
